The Growing Bucket List

There's a list of things that I would like to do before I die.  None of them involve going to space, skydiving, or climbing Mt. Everest--thank goodness!  However, I do think that I've got a good enough list to share with everybody. If anyone has any suggestions of what I should add to this list, by all means, tell me.

1.  Hike the Appalachian Trail

The trail starts in Georgia, climbs steadily up the borders of North Carolina and Virginia, spanning over the states of West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and finally Maine.  Hikers typically begin their journey in early March to April and finish the trail by the late summer.  Someday, I would love to do this.

2.  Learn Ice Fishing

Sadly, North Carolina doesn't get temperatures low enough for me to try this.  Canada's borders team with ice fishermen, which means that I would have to travel a good distance for fishing.  I should probably stick to fishing streams around my house.

3.  Travel to Europe

There are three places that I would love to travel to.  Britain would be great to tour, especially London, and the moors.  Annie and I would like to also go to Paris for the food, the fashion, and the art.  Lastly, I would like to go to Japan to see the cherry blossoms bloom in the spring.

4.  Ride in a Hot Air Balloon

Good thing I'm not scared of heights. I would love to do this.  Someone find me a balloon, please!

5.  Kiss in the Rain

*giggles*  I'm not explaining this one! *more giggles*

6.  Sail Ten Miles Out to Sea

I've sailed about a mile out to sea, but not ten.  I want to experience what it feels like to be surrounded by nothing by ocean and sky.  Scary, but fascinating.

7.  Eat Octopus

My older sister Karen has done this.  She described the octopus as slimy and squid-like.  I've had squid--it was delicious--so octopus can't be too bad.

8.  Write a Novel

Actually, I have already done this, but haven't published anything yet.

9.  Climb the Statue of Liberty

My dad has been up the statue several times.  It is a rough climb, but worth the effort.  I would like to take my camera along and take a picture of NYC, from up in the crown.

10. Watch a Mountain Sunrise

Last Autumn I got the chance to do this and I would so much love to do it again!

I actually haven't eaten octopus - Mom won't let me. I have, however, eaten calamari, which is squid. The best squid I ever ate was still relative intact - could see the tentacles and everything. No, I was not grossed out. Pickled Okra and brussels sprouts gross me out, not squid!

Huh. I thought that it was octopus. Tentacles sound disgusting to me, and I do agree about Okra. Yuck!
