Writing Quirks

When I write something, I pour myself a mug of coffee, sit at my desk, and write one-liners until I come up with something that I feel is golden.  While I write, I wonder if other authors ever practice such a strange approach to writing.  It certainty works for me.  That is why I write one-liners so often.  Call it a quirk, if you like!
Seriously, writers have many strange quirks that they experience while writing.  Mine tend to occur internally, although sometimes will tip my foot on the floor rhythmically and bite my pencil from time to time. My internal quirks are listed as:

     1.       Worrying that what I am writing doesn't make sense.
     2.       Hoping that my readers aren’t becoming bored..
     3.       Laughing at spelling errors that I could have easily avoided.
     4.       Freezing mid-sentence and groaning that my works hasn’t turned out the way I envisioned it
     5.       Humming songs and then finding the lyrics to the song on my paper.  Oops!

Sometimes my writing quirks drive me up the wall, but I’ve learned to laugh at them.  My quirks are what give my writing the style and feel that it has.  That is why I write pages of opening sentences, chose one out of the list, and then use it as an opener for my work.  This very blog post began with a random opening sentence.  *snickers*

If you have any writing quirks, tell me about them in the comments below!

Writing quirks?
I probably have several because I write all the time! It's an addiction, really. *wink* =)
One quirk being, I worry that my stories will be boring (some probably are!!!). Most of the time I don't even know what the next chapter (or even paragraph) will be about...usually I just type out what I think of at the moment and then make a lot of second (and third and fourth and fifth and...)drafts. I write a lot of poems also, which kind of brings on another whole set of "writing quirks". =)

Bailey, I can identify with your fear of writing boring stories! I also write third, fourth, and fifth drafts. We are so alike! :)

Fantastic that you can write poetry! I lack the gift, but I enjoy poetry just the same. :)

Well, I think most writers get worried about their work being boring....even the famous authors, I'm sure.

As for poems, I'm not that talented at it but I enjoy it anyhow!!! (Which is similar to my love of drawing. I have absolutely not talent but I draw anyway!) =)
